Even at the Door

Check out this video about the imminent return of Jesus by David Gates.

David draws amazing parallels between the invasion of Jerusalem (AD 70), and the "invasion" of Rome into the US congress (23 September 2015 - the day of atonement).

David claims that history is about to repeat itself, and predicts that something big is about to happen in spring 2019 (March/April).

Whether you agree with David or not, it is a fact that the Sunday laws (mark of the beast) are coming fast, and will shift the judgment from the dead to the living.

Ellen White also shows that there is a connection between the siege of Jerusalem, and the assumption of power in the US.

The time is not far distant, when, like the early disciples, we shall be forced to seek a refuge in desolate and solitary places. As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation [the United States] in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired homes in secluded places among the mountains.
- Ellen White, Maranatha, p. 181

I believe this is a strong warning from God to "get ready, get ready, get ready". (God always warns shortly before things happen)

Here are some of his other videos on this topic.

How to Get Ready

Here are some points (from the video) on how to get ready:

  1. Turn to God while the door is yet open a few months longer. With contrite hearts confess your sins, weaknesses, and failings.
  2. Ask Him to cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness, and selfishness.
  3. Ask for oil of the Holy Spirit to fill your life. Without it no one can enter the wedding.
  4. Pray for your loved ones and share with them the urgency of the hour. Fast and pray for them.
  5. Take time off to study and pray. Small details do matter.
  6. If you live in the city, move out NOW. God will help you.
  7. Become involved in ministry of others. That will shortly be your full-time work.
  8. Ask God to cast out all fear. Claim His promises.
  9. "GET READY. GET READY. GET READY."

Responses

Here are some responses from other SDA members.

Most agree with David about the times we live in, but not all agree with the time setting part of it.

Given the gravity of David's warning I have decided to list them all here, so that you can make up your mind for yourself.

Personally I welcome the discussion. It is waking people up all over the world, and that's a good thing.

Time Setting

The Bible says that no further time prophecies will be given.

And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer.
- Revelation 10:6 (KJV)

Ellen White confirms this.

This time, which the angel declares with a solemn oath, is not the end of this worlds history, neither of probationary time, but of prophetic time, which should precede the advent of our Lord. That is, the people will not have another message upon definite time. After this period of time, reaching from 1842 to 1844, there can be no definite tracing of the prophetic time. The longest reckoning reaches to the autumn of 1844.
- Ellen White, Bible Commentary, vol. 7, p. 971

Prophetic time means that there will be no more predicting of the future with a date, and this is especially true for things like the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the close of probation, and the Second Coming. Any doctrine that has a date for any one of those events becomes highly suspect straight away.

Here are a few more quotes from Ellen White about time setting.

The Lord has shown me that the message of the third angel must go, and be proclaimed to the scattered children of the Lord, but it must not be hung on time. I saw that some were getting a false excitement, arising from preaching time; but the third angels message is stronger than time can be. I saw that this message can stand on its own foundation and needs not time to strengthen it; and that it will go in mighty power, and do its work, and will be cut short in righteousness.
- Ellen White, Early Writings, p.75

The world placed all time proclamation on the same level and called it a delusion, fanaticism, and heresy. Ever since 1844 I have borne my testimony that we were now in a period of time in which we are to take heed to ourselves lest our hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon us unawares. Our position has been one of waiting and watching, with no time proclamation to intervene between the close of the prophetic periods in 1844 and the time of the Lord's coming. We do not know the day nor the hour, or when the definite time is, and yet the prophetic reckoning shows us that Christ is at the door.
- Ellen White, Manuscript 1210

Christ gave to His disciples truths whose breadth and depth and value they little appreciated, or even comprehended, and the same condition exists among the people of God today. We too have failed to take in the greatness, to perceive the beauty of the truth which God has entrusted to us today. Should we advance in spiritual knowledge, we would see the truth developing and expanding in lines of which we have little dreamed, but it will never develop in any line that will lead us to imagine that we may know the times and the seasons which the Father hath put in His own power. Again and again have I been warned in regard to time setting. There will never again be a message for the people of God that will be based on time. We are not to know the definite time either for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit or for the coming of Christ.
- Ellen White, Selected Messages, vol. 1, p. 188.1

This was the document I came upon last Monday in searching over my writings, and here is another which was written in regard to a man who was setting time in 1884, and sending broadcast his arguments to prove his theories. The report of what he was doing was brought to me at the Jackson [Michigan] camp meeting, and I told the people they need not take heed to this man's theory; for the event he predicted would not take place. The times and the seasons God has put in His own power. And why has not God given us this knowledge?-Because we would not make a right use of it if He did. A condition of things would result from this knowledge among our people that would greatly retard the work of God in preparing a people to stand in the great day that is to come. We are not to live upon time excitement. We are not to be engrossed with speculations in regard to the times and the seasons which God has not revealed. Jesus has told His disciples to "watch," but not for a definite time. His followers are to be in the position of those who are listening for the orders of their Captain; they are to watch, wait, pray, and work, as they approach the time for the coming of the Lord; but no one will be able to predict just when that time will come; for "of that day and hour knoweth no man." You will not be able to say that He will come in one, two, or five years, neither are you to put off His coming by stating that it may not be for ten or twenty years.
- Ellen White, Selected Messages, vol. 1, p. 189.2

I personally believe that a generic warning is okay, but that we should be very careful with time setting.

I'm not convinced that Daniel 12 should be re-interpreted in other words.

Time-setting Boundaries

Certain prophetic events will never have a date, e.g. the Second Coming, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Close of Probation, the Third Angels Message, etc.

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
- Matthew 24:36 (KJV)

So therefore, if you come across a model that has dates for any of these events, you can be assured that it's faulty.

Conclusion

If David is right, then this is the beginning of the Midnight Cry. A wakening up.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
- Matthew 25:1-13 (KJV)

I believe that we should take this warning seriously, and use it as an opportunity to wake up from our slumber.

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
- Romans 13:11 (KJV)

Ellen White says that we should be ready today, and that we should not wait for things to happen.

The third angel's message is swelling into a loud cry, and you must not feel at liberty to neglect the present duty, and still entertain the idea that at some future time you will be the recipients of great blessing, when without any effort on your part a wonderful revival will take place. Today you are to give yourselves to God, that he may make of you vessels unto honor, and meet for his service. Today you are to give yourself to God, that you may be emptied of self, emptied of envy, jealousy, evil-surmising, strife, everything that shall be dishonoring to God. Today you are to have your vessel purified that it may be ready for the heavenly dew, ready for the showers of the latter rain; for the latter rain will come, and the blessing of God will fill every soul that is purified from every defilement. It is our work today to yield our souls to Christ, that we may be fitted for the time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord fitted for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
- Ellen White, Review and Herald, March 22, 1892, par. 13

The important thing to realize in all of this is that the bridegroom is coming. That much I know.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
- Matthew 25:6 (KJV)
