What is Love?

For me, love is simply "what you do for others".

God is essentially the embodiment of Love.

God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
- 1 John 4:16 (KJV)

God loved us before we loved Him.

We love him, because he first loved us.
- 1 John 4:19 (KJV)

In fact, God loved us while we were still sinners.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
- Romans 5:8 (KJV)

There is no greater love than that.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
- John 15:13 (KJV)

Our natural tendency is to be selfish, but God gives us a new heart (of flesh).

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
- Ezekiel 36:26 (KJV)

It is God that pours out His Love in our heart by which we then love our neighbour.

Love is the fulfillment of God's Law (the Ten Commandments).

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
- Romans 13:10 (KJV)

Jesus set the bar for loving one another quite high.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
- John 13:34 (KJV)

Loving one another is not burdensome at all.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- Matthew 11:30 (KJV)

It's a delight!
