Salvation - The Final Stage

This article is about the possible future role of the Holy Spirit.

Over the last 6,000 years God has shown that we can not keep the Ten Commandments by ourselves.

As long as we have the knowledge of good and evil, we will continue to sin.

God says that that is not acceptable. So what then is the solution?

One way are another we need to submit to God's Ten Commandments.

The Bible refers to that as being led by the Spirit.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
- Romans 8:14 (KJV)

So it is the Holy Spirit that knows how to keep the Ten Commandments, and we need to submit to that.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
- Ezekiel 36:26-27 (KJV)

It is the Holy Spirit that lives in us.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
- 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)

The Holy Spirit will live in us forever.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
- John 14:16-17 (KJV)

By ourselves we are selfish and are unable to keep the Ten Commandments.

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
- Isaiah 64:6 (KJV)

It is only by the Holy Spirit that we can truly love God, and our neighbor. When we are led by the Spirit we can fulfill the Ten Commandments.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
- Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)

Consider this verse:

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name [character] shall be in their foreheads [thoughts]. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
- Revelation 22:1-5 (KJV)

Here we see that it is the character of God (the Ten Commandments) that is sealed in our foreheads (thoughts).

We will never be able to sin again. Any sinful thought will simply be "filtered out".

I hope you grasp what I just said.

Don't think of this last step as something taken away (knowledge of evil) from you, but see it as something that God adds to us (His righteousness, and His Great Love).

God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
- 1 John 4:16 (KJV)

God will add to us His Holy Spirit, and we shall become "joined" together.

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
- 1 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV)

This is essentially how Adam, Eve were before the Fall. They were both sealed with the Ten Commandments in their foreheads (no knowledge of evil).

In that state they were very much in God's image and likeness.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
- Genesis 2:26-27 (KJV)

Life with God is only possible if we keep the Ten Commandments. We must therefore make a choice.

A life with God (His Rules), or no life at all.

And that will bring the Great Controversy (good vs. evil) to an end.
